Biography
Mayra Ortiz was appointed by City Council on August 2019 to serve as the City Secretary. With several years of government experience, community and council relations, she takes pride in her leadership and management experience. In addition to her excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills, she is result oriented and dedicated to service.
Mayra constantly strives for excellence and inspires others to achieve that same excellence. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M Commerce. She is pursuing to earn the unique distinction of Certified Municipal Clerk administered by the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc., with the University of North Texas (UNT).
Mayra is a member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Yellow Rose Chapter and serves as the Treasurer. Recently, she has been appointed to serve on the International Institute Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Foundation’s Development Committee.
Working in municipal government has afforded Mayra the opportunity to have an impact on a local level. Mayra utilizes her position to bring a positive influence to the Wilmer community and beyond.
