Cherrell Charles has six years of municipal government experience. She was raised by two military parents, and received her bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University in Management and Marketing.
Cherrell began her career in 2017 with the City of DeSoto, where she worked as a Planning Technician, and later was promoted to Planner. In that time Cherrell took on the role of Planning Manager running various projects such as: Scenic City, Hampton Road Corridor Redevelopment, Association of Parcel Workers of America (APWA).
On June 30,2021 Cherrell began her Journey at the City of Wilmer. Cherrell is determined to strive for excellence and implement the vision of Council to ensure growth and sustainability in the City of Wilmer.
Cherrell is an active member in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. where she campaigns for community service and education for youth. She is responsible for the virtual campaign that collected approximately $2,000 in donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, over 240 school supplies being donated in honor of Operation Big Book Bag to Beckham Elementary School. She is a published author. Ms. Charles is a proud supporter of Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH).
