Judge Allen has been an employee of the City of Wilmer for the past 25+ years. She started July 24, 1994 as the court clerk, before becoming an alternate judge and then ultimately the presiding municipal judge. 

Judge Allen is responsible for presiding over trials and other court proceedings, performing certain magistrate functions, and general administration of the court. This is in addition to managing, directing, supervising, coordinating and planning the day to day operations of court.

As municipal judge she has a number of functions that include: presiding over plea dockets and pre-trials, as well as bench and jury trials; magistrate warnings for adults and juveniles; setting bonds on class a, b, and c misdemeanors; setting bonds on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree felonies; continuances, docketing, expungements; can perform marriage ceremonies; issuing emergency protection orders, capias warrants, and arrest warrants; overseeing indigent hearings; show cause hearing, oaths, complaints, motions, defensive driving, deferred adjudication, appeals; presiding over attorney bonds, surety bonds, cash bonds, personal bonds, arraignment of defendants in custody, property hearings, state reports, dockets, payments plans, community service; serving various administrative office functions such as budgeting; serving as a notary, etc.
