Biography

Rona Stringfellow has over 20 years experience in municipal government.  She grew up in Dallas and graduated from David W. Carter High School. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology and has a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas.  

She began her career in municipal government as an intern with the City of McKinney in September 1999 and worked as a Planner.  In October 2004, she was hired as a Planner with the City of Lancaster. Since that time, she has been promoted to Senior Planner, Director of Planning and Housing, Director of Development Services, Managing Director of Public Works and Development Services, Assistant City Manager and Deputy City Manager.  On January 31, 2020, she retired from the City of Lancaster and began her new adventure with the City of Wilmer as the City Administrator. With a background in development and Wilmer’s potential with industrial, residential, and retail, it was a great match.

Rona is a member of the International City/County Manager’s Association and is a Credentialed Manager.  She is also a member of North Texas City Manager’s Association and Texas City Manager’s Association, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and the American Planning Association.  She is also a board member of the North Texas Chapter and International Affairs Committee with NFBPA.

Rona also serves as the Economic Development Director and in her role as a member of the Texas Economic Development Committee and the International Economic Development Committee.

The City of Wilmer is a growing community and the dual role of serving as both City Administrator and Economic Development Director has been beneficial in shaping future sustainable economic growth and diversity.
