Fire Chief

Chief Hamilton is the current Fire Chief for the City of Wilmer. He grew up in Austin and South Oak Cliff. His career began in 1990 when he completed EMT training and began working for a private ambulance service. In 1995 he completed EMT-P (paramedic training). He was still working for a private ambulance service stationed in Seagoville when he finished fire academy.  

 In 1998 he began his firefighting career with the City of Seagoville and in 2004 he seized the opportunity to take a full time position in the Wilmer Fire Department as it began its transition from volunteer to a paid department. At the time, there were two FF-medics per shift.  

 Chief Hamilton became the Fire Chief in Wilmer in 2012. He has continued to pursue his passion for firefighting and public service by attending many classes and obtaining multiple certifications through TCFP, TDSHS, TEEX, FEMA and TFCA. He has a Chief Fire Executive Certification through the Texas Fire Chief's Association and Head of Department Certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. He has active memberships with TFCA, IAFC, NCTCOG, NCTTRAC, TEMSA, NFPA, TAA, DCFCA, EDUCT, SFFMA, and EMAT.

Chief Hamilton is also the emergency manager for the City of Wilmer and participates with NCTCOG for disaster planning and preparedness. He completed emergency manager training through TEEX and FEMA as well as he is one class from completing his Advanced Professional Series in Emergency Management through FEMA. The Wilmer Fire Department has seen rapid growth with the development of the City over the last 20 years. There are now 4 FF-medics per shift and a new state-of-the-art fire station.
