TexShare Card Policies

TexShare is a consortium of Texas libraries joining together to share print and electronic materials, purchase online resources, and combine staff expertise.

TexShare services are available to patrons of participating member libraries across Texas, regardless of institution type, size, or location. The consortium is administered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

TexShare Card Program

The Card Program is a reciprocal borrowing program which allows registered users of participating TexShare libraries to obtain a TexShare card and use the card to borrow materials directly from other participating libraries.

You must obtain a TexShare card from your home institution before going to other libraries. Each library sets its own lending policies for visiting TexShare Card users. Contact the library to find out about their lending rules.

Card Eligibility

Eligibility requirements to be issued a TexShare Card by the E.M. Gilliam Memorial Public Library for use at another library:

  • Wilmer resident
  • Be a regular patron currently in good standing: No overdue materials, and no fees.

(TexShare Cards may not be renewed if items are overdue, or fees are present on the account).

  • Cardholder for four months or more.

Contact your hometown library to check if they are participating in the TexShare card program if you are NOT a resident of Wilmer and want to get a TexShare card to use at another Texas library.
