About Us

The E.M. Gilliam Memorial Library is located at 205 E. Belt Line Road, Wilmer, Texas. The Gilliam Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the Wilmer city boundaries. 

The Wilmer Public Library is here to provide materials, information, and services to meet the educational, recreational, cultural, and social needs of our diverse community, to support lifelong learning and to enhance services.

The library provides a doorway to knowledge for the people in our community.

Library Cards

To borrow materials from our library or use our computers, it is necessary to have a valid Wilmer Library card. Children five years or older may have a library card in their name. A parent or legal guardian MUST sign all applications for library cards for children. A valid Texas driver's license or Texas ID card MUST be presented with application. (Children applying for cards must present a driver’s license or ID card of the person signing the application.) Youth fourteen (14) and under will need to have parental or guardian permission to access the Internet and/or be seated at an Internet workstation.

TexShare Cards: You must be a member of our library for two months and in good standing, i.e., no outstanding fines or past due items for you to be eligible for a TexShare card (this applies for adults only). This card enables you to check out books from participating public libraries throughout Texas.

Interlibrary Loan

This service allows Wilmer cardholders who live in the city to request items belonging to other libraries and have them mailed to the Wilmer Public Library. Patrons may request items by speaking to a library staff member.

Borrowing Materials

Five books and/or audiobooks can be checked out for 2 weeks. 3 DVDs per family or in the same household may be checked out at any time. DVDs may be checked out for three days. DVDs, Audiobooks, and Books may be placed in the) drop box inside the library.

Late Fees

All library materials may be borrowed without charge, but a late fee will be charged when materials become overdue (including Saturday & Sunday).

Overdue books and Audiobooks: a fee of $.10 per day will be charged for each book.

DVDs: a fee of $1.00 per day for each DVD will be charged for each item.

Internet Access & Wi-Fi Services

We have 8 Computers for public use. Patrons are limited to 1 hour. The computers automatically shut down 15 minutes before closing time. Suspension of computer privileges will occur if there is any misuse of the computer.

Copy/Print/Scan/Fax

  • Copy machine is available for limited use.
  • $.10 per page fee will be charged for all prints.
  • Scanner is available free of charge.
  • A fax machine is available for our customers. A $1.00 per page, per side fee will be charged for information sent or received via Fax.
