The Animal Services Division of the Wilmer Police Department strives to deliver effective, courteous, and responsive animal care and control services to the residents of Wilmer. Protecting public safety and ensuring animal welfare are accomplished through compassionate, responsive, professional enforcement of the laws and public policy.
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for the detection and investigation of criminal offenses, collection, and examination of evidence, and for the successful prosecution of crimes committed in the City of Wilmer.
The K9 Unit provides a trained K9 Team to assist in the prevention and detection of crime, the tracking of missing persons and persons sought by the police, the search for evidence or of buildings or outdoor areas, as well as the detection of narcotics and firearms.
The primary function of the Traffic Safety Division is to keep roadways as safe as possible for all motorists. This is achieved through the enforcement of state and municipal traffic laws. The ultimate goal is the saving of lives and reduction of traffic crashes.
